Whenever I try a new recipe I get excited and have to share about it! When it tastes yummy and I know it's good ingredients that are helpful I'm all a flutter. I love to replace inferior ingredients with better ones, too. That's a BIG win in my book.
Do you know how much junk and gunk is in the sports drinks hydrating drinks people sip and chug? Seriously. It's like we think they are helping us or our family and there are some super easy switch outs that can be impactful. Not all electrolyte drinks are created equal. Most commercial sports drinks and other mainstream products that are marketed towards our children are not so great. They are full of refined sugars, food dyes (ugh), and other questionable ingredients.
My kiddos are Sporty McSportersons and this is so much better for them than the very colorful drinks they used to drink after working out and competing. I love that!
Natural Citrus Electrolyte Drink
This is easy, I promise.
4 C. filtered water or alkaline based water (I prefer Fiji Water)
1/8-1/4 t. sea salt
4-5 drops Trace Mineral Concentrate
5-6 drops Stevia (optional)
Add water to a large glass pitcher. Because of the citrus based essential oils, you will want to use a glass pitcher. Add all ingredients and stir. Add ice and fruit garnishes if you like. Serve immediately. Super fun to pour into mason jars!
This is also a refreshing cool down drink on those hot Summer days or if you are feeling dehydrated, post yoga, running, hiking or biking. All the fun Summer stuffs we love to do!
This drink contains vital trace minerals and electrolytes. This is crucial after physical exertion or during illness. Water alone is not enough so it's important to restore those nutrients. The Trace Minerals are optional but check out what's in it...tons of minerals that are readily available like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorous.
The Young Living Essential Oils are the only oils I would ever feel safe enough for my family to ingest. Read your labels, peeps. You'll be amazed. :) They taste amazing and are very concentrated so you only need a couple drops.
Not intended for children under one year of age due to the citrus.
I would love to hear how you like it!
