It has been a busy and emotional week here, getting our Son, Drake, ready to exit here and enter his dorm. Ahhhh!!! This Summer has flown by I tell you. He finished up his Summer Internship, then went to an overnight camp for Engineering students entering their freshman year. Now it’s on with the moving process.
I found a way to express the emotion of it all, mother/artist style by painting. Yup, painted it out. I’ve compiled a quick video showing the piece as it came to life. It’s just over a minute long, take a peek and enjoy.

I like to think he will hang it on his dorm wall, but the realistic mom knows what a minimalist he is, so I will probably hang it here in his bedroom instead. I suppose having a piece of your MOM’S (ewww) artwork in your dorm isn’t cool. At all. I was hoping the monsters and the colors would somehow make it cool. Should have made zombies, but they are way to scary for me.

Oh in case you didn’t catch it, the monstas…left to right, dad, mom, sis, brother. We all will have him on our mind and in our hearts so much in the coming days while he transitions! I’ll let you know how moving day goes.

Oh mama. No word are necessary. I remember reading something like
a mother’s heart travels outside our bodies.
Oh Teresa! This is fabulous!!! Love, love, love the video!!! Makes me giggle. And… mama, helping those little birds spread their wings is often quite difficult…. but, so rewarding watching them soar! xoxox
What a terrific homage to the growth of a son and the love of a mother! I love, love, love the “Where The Wild Things Are” theme. I completely relate.
