Studio Updates and Wine

The other day I did some studio spiffing up. A few months ago I wrote about wanting to make some changes to my working space, and I’ve been doing just that. Little by little. Small changes are being made that add up to more happy.

I have been on a string of lights kick lately, so I decided to add some to one of the walls.  I used a strand of white lights (from the Christmas storage bins) and wrapped the green wires with fabric strips.

It sounded like a good idea initially, but it took a couple of hours to wrap all that wire. I’m glad I did though, because they are so colorful now, and look much better than green wires with lights.  As I look at this photo, it looks wonky (too many textures on my photo apps I think) but if you just look at the lights you can see how much ambiance they add.

They look great when they aren’t lit, too, because of all that colorful fabric. These lights would be so pretty on a white or light colored Christmas tree, too.

I also took down some things and repainted a few things here and there. Like I said, I’m doing this slowly. The old cupboard door “thingy” on the left was painted black and white striped a few months ago. I also added a more of my recent canvases here and there.

I have been wanting a big doodly girl to greet folks who enter the space (she’s on the bottom right in the above photo). I just sketched her quickly…she is a trial run…on paper for now. I’m not sure if I like her or not. What do you think? She needs more detail I know that.

So there are my recent studio decor updates. It’s making me so happy…fresh color and fixin’s will do that to you!

Also, before I go, wanted to share a great treat I hope you try sometime soon. If you are a chardonnay indulger, I highly recommend The Dreaming Tree.

I know it’s even more popular in Crush and Cabernet. When I saw it was recommended by Dave Matthews, I had to try it. Who knew my fav musician was a wine maker, too. Go Dave! Just one more reason to love the guy!

This is absolutely beautiful. The lights, colors and overall ‘happiness’ of this space is going to send you into a creative tailspin. I’m a BIG fan and student of your embroidery samplers, so of course I believe those need to be hung anywhere possible. Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven. <3

How much would it cost to have a slumber party in your studio?? I want to come live there! Ha! It’s super cool…love your use of colors…and those wrapped lights are great!
