So I haven’t checked in for a while, as you know, it’s been a whopper of a week! We celebrated our Son, Drake’s, (his nickname is Drake) high school graduation all last week. Parties, banquets and awards night every night last week…not even kidding. Here he is with his little brother and daddio after commencement. My 3 guys….awww.

This photo is more for me than you. Ya gotta get that iconic walk across the stage photo, right? My baby, isn’t a baby anymore. He is a wonderful young man.

So the week was going well. Very well. Everyone was happy and all were smiling. Things were getting checked off the enormous To Do List (you know the one) that you have before having a house and yard full of people. The party plans were coming together.
My family got to town the night before the party. So great to see them. I should have known something was wrong, when Drake didn’t feel up to going out to dinner with everyone who came to see him….to one of his favorite restaurants even. What? Like every teenage boy, the kid revolves around food.

The morning of the party we were all very busy getting things ready for his open house. Everyone had a list of stuff to do that day. Meanwhile, Drake was in his bed…still not eating. Worse yet, he was really grouchy. His special day, and he had nothing but a frown to offer everyone.

About an hour before the party he said he wanted to see a doctor!
Whaaaaaat?
Stop everything….wait it’s too late…the party starts in an hour.
Are you sure? He was.
I scooted him to the ER and he had his appendix removed…while everyone was at his party.

He is home now and very slowly recooperating. Can ya believe it? Hopefully he will be up and at ‘em soon. Crossing my fingers, but I think it’ll be a while. We are so glad he was able to finish his track season. And his graduation and the week of his events…but sad he couldn’t even celebrate his special open house with all of his family and friends.
So, now that things have calmed down a bit, I’ll be around more often here.

Enjoy your day!

We had a very similar situation this past weekend…my daughter started feeling bad just after the rehearsal dinner for my son’s wedding. I took her to the ER at 10 pm that night and by 4 am she was in surgery having her appendix out. She was discharged in time for the 2 pm ceremony, believe it or not, and even made it to the reception to dance with her brother! She is probably paying for it now, as she’s still in a lot of pain and super tired, but she says it was worth it!
Oh, Teresa, that’s so sad about the appendicitis! So happy Drake was able to attend his graduation, if not his special party! Do take care and don’t let him up too soon. One of my grandsons had to stay in the hospital one whole week because his had ruptured before he was diagnosed. Hopefully, your son will soon be well and able to enjoy the rest of the summer!

ohmygoodnessgracious!
i am so sorry!!!!
isn’t it crazy
how we think we
have life all under
control, and then
little reminders
like this tell
us who is really
the boss? i know
the Lord was watching
over him and you, too!
much love!
That’s just crazy! Poor guy! Poor mom! I hope he’s not to bummed that he missed his open house and I hope he is healing fast.
