Tough week

Last week, we lost a member of my husband’s family. One of his brothers passed away very unexpectedly. Since last Wednesday, we have been spending lots and lots of time with his family and all of their childhood friends. The funeral was Monday evening, and things are beginning to calm down a bit now.

It’s been a week of so many emotions, it’s hard to even know where to begin. If you have been there you can imagine. Mike was a good Father, Husband, Brother and friend to so many. His family was his world. He will sure be missed.

Even though it was a somber occasion that brought everyone to town, it was really great to see so all of my husband’s family (I keep saying his family, but it’s my family, too), and to laugh, cry, and hold hands and hold some of them up even when they wanted to crumble at the weight of the occasion.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.  2 Corinthians 1: 3-5
